Fathers are important to children!
Many fathers feel that they are not treated equally or fairly during separation or divorce, especially when they wish to maintain their parenting relationship with their children. Sometimes their efforts to spend more time with their kids are pegged as suspect or as a means to reduce their child support obligation.
The truth is that most fathers genuinely care about the health and welfare of their kids. More importantly, children miss spending time with their dads. Studies prove that consistant parenting time (access/visitation) greatly benefits children self-esteem especially during separation.
For kids, divorce and separation is a very scary time. They most often do not understand why it's happening and tend to blame themselves. Children may feel lost or vulnerable during this time. To help them through this difficult period, a consistant on-going parenting relationship with both parents can give them the feeling of security they need while eliminating the need to escape – teens, for example may use drugs or alcohol to forget about the pain of the family breakup.
Children suffer the greatest loss!
Loss of their family, stability, security and the benefits of parenting and guidance that they deserve and long for, from both of their parents. Let us help you remain an active parent.
Fathers Resources International
Fathers Resources International offers a variety of specialized referrals, services and resources for separated or divorced men and fathers seeking assistance with a Family Law matter in Ontario, Canada.
Specializing in Separation / Divorce Management & Family Law Referral Services for FathersAll of the professionals we recommend and refer, specialize in Family Law, Divorce and Separation, and have a track-record of success on behalf of fathers. For over 12 years our strategic analysis, Counseling, Divorce Management Services, Divorce Coaching and referral network of legal and/or other professionals has assisted fathers with positive solutions to their custody, access and support problems.
REDUCE LEGAL COSTS through counseling, education and support systems
Separation & Divorce Management Services can give you the tools and strategies that may help resolve conflicts or concerns without involving the high cost of legal proceedings. Becoming well-educated about the issues and processes divorced dads face, often leads to being more cost-effective.
Making educated decisions and choices as a consumer of Legal, Social and Family Court Services can equal significant cost savings, once you learn the benefits of "Waging Peace" instead of "Waging War" when it comes to your children. By optimizing yourself and your chances for success, you can reduce the initial costs of preparing yourself and your family matter for negotiation, mediation and/or Family Court.
Legal matters in Family Court can be very costly. 50-85% of parties in Family Court cannot afford legal representation either from the onset, or within the first 2-3 hearings in Family Court. Getting a case properly organized can cost a lot– We offer many options that help stretch your budget. We have specific strategies that can help to reduce the overall costs, once you begin to apply the methods we suggest that involve becoming educated, having a support group consisting of experienced divorced dads, peer mentoring and masterminding positive child focused solutions.
Make no mistake - Cost savings rely upon you becoming an educated consumer of legal services and Family Court Services through on-line education, counseling and coaching. It will take some time and effort on your part. And we encourage that approach since the odds favour you becoming part of the 50-85% who cannot afford a lawyer to represent you in / out of Family Court. The divorced dads who have had the most success are the ones who fully embrace the responsibility to become educated on how to make better decisions, How Family Court actually operates, and how the application of cost benefit analysis can optimize your matter to much better outcome.
Lawyer Referral
All of the Family Law lawyers we refer work in Family Law exclusively and have a proven success-record for fathers. Lawyers fees range from $200 - $475 per hour. Lawyer-supervised Senior Law Clerk Services for document preparation fees are $135 per hour. We’ll refer the lawyer that best suits your case and suggest many other cost saving options to help you keep your fees manageable. However, we always recommend that you begin your separation / divorce management education immediately, because experience has taught us that often fathers lose the ability to continue retaining a lawyer if the Family Court matter goes beyond 2-3 hearings.
When you combine what you learn on this site, in our meetings, on our weekly teleseminars and through separation / divorce management counseling services with the services of a good lawyer who has had successful experiences in working with fathers, you'll begin the process of truly turning your situation around. That's the process of the many fathers we have helped over the years. Make no mistake, some situations will take a LOT OF MONEY & EFFORT. There are unfortunately some situations that can't be improved. Fortunately, these are the minority of cases...
When you can't afford a lawyer...
If you have limited, or no means to hire a lawyer, there are many FREE resources on this site, in our meetings and on our teleseminars that can help you. But they ARE NOT a substitute for good legal assistance and advice of an experienced family law lawyer who has a track record of success in helping divorced dads.
FREE "Q and A" Support Group Meetings
Attend our free weekly 'Q & A' Support Group Meetings in Toronto (Wednesdays 7-9pm) or our monthly 'Q & A' Support Group Meetings (Tuesdays 7-9pm) in Hamilton – Meeting Info. You'll meet other divorced dads who can share what has worked, and what has not worked both outside and inside Family Court during negotiations, mediation and at hearings. Some of these fathers have no lawyer, because they have no funds to sustain the cost of hiring one - together as a group, we help each other become more educated, support each other through the tough times of separation and divorce, and in some instances fathers get together to either watch in Family Court, learning how it operates, or to support each other when they have a hearing before the Family Court.
